How to Develop a Cracking Easter Email Campaign

Warning: this blog post may contain egg puns.

As another holiday of over-indulgence approaches, it’s worth bearing in mind that Easter campaigns aren’t the exclusive preserve of retailers and chocolatiers, and that there’s an opportunity for multiple sectors to get involved in a season which they might otherwise have overlooked.

Although not thought of as one of the ‘big’ holidays, Easter is definitely gaining momentum. It has been estimated that £892.6 million will be spent over the Easter period this year, a figure not even including the travel expenses incurred by the 2.5 million people planning to travel over Easter within the UK alone.

This is an ‘eggcellent’ opportunity to create fun and eye-catching Easter email campaigns to capitalize on this growing holiday, and it doesn’t all have to be chocolate-related.

To help you tap into this feel-good holiday I have put together some eggsquisite campaign examples we’ve received in our own inboxes here at Adestra, which show this season is no longer all about retail.

GWR: Get cracking and save!

There are three aspects of this campaign from British railway franchise GWR which I really love: they have subtly applied an Easter theme with their egg-based hero image and ‘get cracking’ pun (turns out the lure of a good egg pun is fairly sector agnostic). It doesn’t go over the top, however, and remains in-keeping with GWR’s branding. They have also personalized their email, and provided a clear CTA with the ‘book now’ button.

Village Hotel Club: Easter breaks cracked

This is an eggceptional example of how an animated GIF can bring a campaign to life. It draws you in to view the offer and is very much in-keeping with Village Hotel Club’s funky branding and online presence.

bareMinerals: You’re a good egg!

Make-up brand bareMinerals have created a simple and clear Easter campaign which beautifully complements their brand identity. They are known for creating cosmetics with natural ingredients, and this is illustrated here (along with a few Easter references for good measure – check out their catchy header and fun promo code).

There is a clear incentive to drive customers to their website with a promotional gift and free delivery. They have also created a sense of urgency and exclusivity with their subject line: 5 Free Samples ❤ Your Exclusive Easter Offer.

Hotel Chocolat: The Easter Bunny’s little helpers

I mean, it wouldn’t be an Easter blog without having at least one chocolate-related campaign in there! Hotel Chocolat have created a fantastic, fun-filled email which is very much in-keeping with their brand.

Starting with an engaging subject line which draws you in, followed by good use of personalization, they continue taking you through the journey by using a good balance of Easter puns with the names of their Easter bunnies and CTA buttons.

There are so many more examples I could share with you, but I hope this initial look through some of my favorites has inspired you to get out there and get creative in time for Easter weekend!
