Managed by a cross-functional team of colleagues from across the business, we aim to raise money and awareness of those in need, and to donate our time to support charitable organizations.
Based in Oxfordshire, SpecialEffect aim to enable anyone, whatever their level of physical disability, to enjoy video games, leisure technology, and communication. Apart from being fun, this access to technology gives those with disabilities the means to participate socially, build confidence, and kick-start their own rehabilitation.
What our Partner Charity says
"We’re thrilled to have joined forces with Adestra as their charity partner! Already this year [Adestra's] staff have been involved in loads of amazing fundraising events, from the Monster Race, to the British 10K and most recently our Go-Karting Grand Prix at the Daytona Milton Keynes circuit. We’re already looking forward to next year, with plans already in the pipeline for Adestra’s involvement in GameBlast and the TwinTown challenge. We’d just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who’s run, raced and donated for their fantastic support!"
When disaster strikes, people with disabilities often cannot evacuate on their own or have to leave crucial medical equipment behind. Many emergency responders are not prepared to properly handle disaster relief and rescue for those with special needs. Portlight Inclusive Disaster Strategies has been coordinating disaster relief in the United States for people with disabilities for over 20 years, most recently following the devastation of Hurricane Harvey in summer 2017. The organization also works to educate emergency responders, caretakers, and those with disabilities for disaster preparedness.
