Adestra at Marketing Week Live: Using email and social media spread your message
I had the pleasure of presenting on day two of Marketing Week Live this year and boy, was it busy! I presented on “The art of conversation – encouraging your email addresses to spread your message” covering how you can use your existing data to share your content and introduce you to their networks, and in turn increasing your database size.
Gone are the days of ‘spray and pray’. B2C and B2B marketers alike need to know the value of talking to their customers rather than at them. Dialogue beats monologue every time and your customers are your greatest advocates. Email is not passive – it is an active experience about sharing. As such, we need to create content that people will want to pass on. Content, in other words that can go viral and bring you new customers.
You can watch a video of me talking about my presentation at Marketing Week Live below.
My key takeaway was:
The key to engaging your customer and transforming them into brand advocates is to talk to them intelligently and appropriately. During the presentation, I discussed how the use of interesting campaigns, strategically placed social facilities and the use of incentivisation, can all help to convert your users into brand advocates. Well produced and interesting content can also work well to activate your customers and is an incentive in itself. By including unique and relevant content in your campaigns, you are engaging your customers and again increasing the likelihood of your campaigns being shared socially.
Do your research and get to know what makes your clients tick – Then and only then will you be able to engage your customers and make them your brand champions.
