Merry Mobile Christmas Everyone!

Merry Mobile Christmas Everyone!

How are you getting on with your Christmas shopping? Lists made and ready to go or are you waiting for the last minute pressure to inspire you?

However you plan it you are probably amongst the millions of people who are turning to their smartphones to help them with their purchases. According to some analysis from the IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index UK shoppers will spend nearly £8bn online this Christmas time. They also believe that the shopping will be continuously busy in the run up, rather than the peaks we have previously seen. The report highlights the influence of smartphones, with people using them to research, search for offers, make purchases, and so, read your emails.

This means that mobile has to be an important, integrated part of your marketing plan. So, how can you make sure you are tapping in to this online market?

The most important thing is make sure that people can in fact read your emails on their phone! Check your templates to make sure they fit in with our mobile recommendations and add in a quick link via our editor to a simplified mobile version. For a detailed breakdown on nice mobile rendering check out Neil from our production team’s blog, or contact us for some template advice.  You can also test your emails for yourself by using the complete version of our content preview which includes all the top smartphones and mobile clients:

If people are likely to be buying your products from their phones make sure you have a nicely mobile optimised version of your website to link to from your email, and conversion tracking is in place. Perhaps also think about setting up an app for people to browse or buy through and add in an email sign up form to that app.

The report also looks at the fact that consumers are now far more comfortable with moving across mobile channels to find bargains. People are looking for offers on email, social media and even SMS. Think about how you can bring all of these together to work for you.  Using our html editor you can add social share buttons to your emails, allowing people to share either the email or story and so opening your lovely campaigns up to lots more people. Maybe you could also run a seasonal offer by asking people to text in their email address to receive an exclusive Christmas discount.

Whatever you decide to do, get in the spirit and have some fun with mobile marketing this year.

MessageFocus – Easy subject line personalisation

537 days ago by Joanne Taylor

Personalising your subject line can help to improve your email open rates. MessageFocus makes adding basic personalisation to your subject line easy.

Here is how it works:

In the campaign options section of MessageFocus, add a subject line for your email, place your cursor where you want your personalisation to be displayed, for example, if you want the recipients first name at the beginning of the subject line, place your cursor there and leave a space.

Next to the subject line box, is the personalisation button which enables you to add basic personalisation into your subject line.

Subject line personalisation

Click and select personalisation, then select your core table and all the fields associated with that core table will be displayed, select the required field, e.g. first name and click ok.

Choose your core table or data table

Choose the field you wish to use

The coding has now been added to your subject line and when you launch your campaign the recipients first name for example will be added to the subject line.

Your subject line is now personalised

If you know that some of your first name fields are empty, then the personalisation will not be added to the subject line and the email will be sent without the personalisation (the recipient will not see the coding so you don’t need to worry about that!).

Good luck with your subject line personalisation!
